The year has flown by. It’s been so busy and eventful. Plenty of highs and lows. On the positive side, I have enjoyed a fabulous art Retreat to Namibia in March, with 9 other incredible artists. This was the highlight of my year. We were on the most amazing property, and we had epic weather, really epic. Storms every afternoon and the display of colour was beyond describable. My painted skies this year, have large been referenced from this trip. I must say I left a bit of my heart in this area of Namibia.
I had the privilege of presenting a Landscape painting Workshop at The Karoo Art Hotel in Barrydale in April, and I am doing a second one 23, 24, 25 of October.
Sadly though my mother suffered a stroke this year and much of my emotional energy and time has been devoted to her care. Understandably I have not been able to be as focused on my painting as usual. I am slowly finding my rhythm again in the studio as I prepare work for the galleries who represent my art and for an group exhibition at Asara Wine farm, Opening October 30.
My featured image is a gorgeous grader I photographed in Mjejane a few years ago. I have been longing to paint this perfectly coloured creature for ages, and I’m so pleased that I finally found the time to do it. It will be going to Manzart in Franschhoek. And I’m lucky enough to be going back to Mjejane in November with good friends. Maybe I’ll see this grader again.
